PS my late brither went to you for rehab so I know that you are a good and helpful organisation. He was successfull and became a dug and alcohol worker himself unfortunatly he diied last november in his sleep of a bleeding stomach ulcer, which had gone undetected for years. His name ws Robert Watkins he was welsh. you may remember him

Please accept my apologies for taking so long to get back to you, your comment was hidden away from me by mistake.
I’m very sorry to hear about Robert, it’s very sad and made more so I feel by the fact that he had broken free from addiction.
With regards to your question about benefits whilst in Rehab, although there have been some changes recently councils generally will keep open your local housing and council tax benefit claim whilst you are away at rehab.
Unfortunately I have no recent knowledge of DLA but I presume this carries on as normal as well based on the fact that your permanent home address would remain the same and your disability would by my assumption also remain the same. It is fine for you to ask the governments DLA team on 0800 88 22 00 and asking this question for a hypothetical situation of potentially going to rehab shouldn’t affect your current claim at all.
